Sunny Deol Starrer Mohalla Assi Gets Trolled On Twitter For Insulting Hindu Gods
Mohalla Assi, a film based on the residents of temple town Kashi, is raising a stink on Twitter. The film starring Sunny Deol, Ravi Kishan and Sakshi Tanwar has been ready for release since 2015 but was not cleared by the CBFC, headed by Pahlaj Nihalani.

The film was denied certification on the grounds that it was “full of abusive words” and that it could hurt the sentiments “of a particular local area” and cause a “law and order problem".

Interestingly, the film's director was denied certification despite its director Chandraprakash Dwivedi being a member of the CBFC. But Dwivedi was recently also made an Adviser in the Culture Ministry and it looks like the tide has turned for Mohalla Assi too.

A rumour has begun circulating in the industry that the film has been cleared for release by the  Film Certification Appellate Tribunal.

And it looks like the buzz has caught Twitter's attention too. A clip from the film which shows Hindu godmen ogling white tourists and using cuss words, has started doing the rounds on the social media network. And the Twitteratis are not pleased.

They have called out Dwivedi for making the film and also gone after Sunny Deol for hurting religious sentiments.

Now that the film seems to have escaped from the clutches of the CBFC, will it survive this trial on Twitter? Let's wait and watch.
